Sometimes called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates when news of the end of slavery reached the far corners of the former Confederacy. It is celebrated annually on June 19 in the United States to this day as a way to unite community, and like most celebratory gatherings of Black folks, a big part of it revolves around clothing. But Juneteenth fashion isn’t just about style for style’s sake.

Several residents of an apartment building needed to be rescued from a fire in Monmouth on Wednesday morning. The Monmouth Fire Department responded to the call about smoke coming from the inside of an apartment at 200 East Harlem Avenue shortly after 9:30am. Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from a third floor apartment when they arrived on the scene. They were able to quickly contain the fire before it spread to the other apartments.

“We as an industry need to collaborate further,” said Camilla Bullock, co-founder and chief executive of Emerging Payments Association Asia, which aims to strengthen and expand the payments industry. “It has to be a collaboration between the private sector and the public sector to get closer to align and coordinate targets … and to harmonise and recognise those different regulations.” The call for closer integration comes as the industry needs to build a more sustainable ecosystem amid challenges brought on by efforts to launch and develop digital currencies in many countries.

Brian Ferguson) SAN ANTONIO (CelebrityAccess) – Texas Country music singer/songwriter Charlie Robison died Sunday (September 10) surrounded by his family and friends. His wife, Kristen, shared news of the musician’s death on social media. According to the Tyler Morning Telegraph, a family spokesperson told the outlet that Robison passed away at a San Antonio hospital after suffering cardiac arrest and complications. He was 59.

Madison made the claim during A&E's new Hugh Hefner docuseries -- and Crystal was clearly watching. One of the many viewers who apparently checked out A&E's "Secrets of Playboy" docuseries was the widow of Hugh Hefner himself, Crystal Hefner. Crystal, who was married to Hef from 2012 until his death in 2017, fired off a pair of tweets on Monday evening as the first two episodes aired -- confirming one claim made by former Hefner girlfriend Holly Madison, while disputing another from fellow ex Sondra Theodore.
